We are starting on memorizing our polyatomic ions. For Monday or Tuesday next week you have tom memorize the first ten on the list. If you have lost your list, look to the new handout link on the left to download yourself a copy.

You have project information due either Thursday (Sept 25) or Friday (Sept 26)

Details are below...

First Spiral Evaluation
1. You will record all information in ink in a wide rule spiral notebook on the fronts of pages.

2. Page numbers need to be written, in ink, in the upper right hand corner of all spiral pages prior to beginning the project.

3. You will need a question and a hypothesis. Write these on the second page.

4. The spiral must contain:
a) a title page including: name, class-period, title of project, teacher name
b) written information from at least two different sources with a total of 2 pages in length of information.
i. No more than 1 source may come from a general encyclopedia. (Britannia, Encarta, etc.)
ii. You may use 1 specific encyclopedia as a source (examples: medical encyclopedia, plant encyclopedia, chemistry encyclopedia)
iii.Your textbook may NOT count as a source; you may use 1 other textbook as a source though.
iv. FOR THIS EVALUATION, NO INTERNET SOURCES ALLOWED!

c) a bibliography for each source must be stated in the top margin of the page, with all information taken from that source written following the bibliography.

We have a safety test either tomorrow (A-day) or Wednesday. You will need to bring a calculator to class this day as we will be starting dimensional analysis.

Everyone should have their compostion book by now. Please bring it to class.

You need to have all of the following items.

1. 3‑Ringed Notebook Binder (Must be at least 2 inches thick)
2. a set of 5 dividers
3. a Blue or Black Pen
4. a Red Pen
5. a Pencil.
6. loose leaf Notebook Paper
7. one big box of tissues (Get the good kind please!)
8. One 70 sheet spiral‑type notebook (I suggest wide rule)
9. Two Paper Folders With Brads (match one of the colors with your spiral, the other needs to be orange)
10. Calculator ‑ You should have your own personal TI-83 or TI-84 calculator.
    Please DO NOT buy a TI-89.
    
    Optional Items
11. Rubber or Latex Gloves for lab
12. Old shoes for lab drawer

Attention AP Chemistry Students

You should be working on your summer electronic homework assignments soon! If you did not get a disk, please e-mail me and I will make arrangements for you to get one soon. If you have your disk and have a password on a green card you will need to use the program by Thursday, or the program will not load because of the date. If you have a yellow password card, you have to wait until Friday for it to be valid. If you have any questions please e-mail me.

Remember your assignment is all of the sections in the first 4 chapters. If you get bored you can move on to chapter 5 as well (as it will be assigned later in the first semester.)

AP Study Session

The next AP Study session for all sciences is at Old High on Saturday, April 5th. AP Chemistry students remember that you get a 25/25 for each session you attend. Students registered for the AP Environmental Science Test are encouraged to attend also.
