Here are some pictures of some of my students during 2nd hour igniting our electrolysis device. It makes a very nice popping sound when it works.

Pre-AP Chemistry

Be sure to wear real shoes to class on Tuesday or Wednesday as we will be doing a lab. We are done taking notes over Chapter 8. You will receive a review in class soon (if you haven't already) over Chapter 8. We will be going to the library on Thursday or Friday and the Chapter 8 test will be on next Monday or Tuesday.

Regular Chemistry

We will be continuing our study over naming compounds on Wednesday and will finish up our "All Compound WS". On Friday I will give you your review and we will spend about half the period on Friday at the Library to work on our science fair projects. If you have yet to turn in your research plan, this is the final day they will be accepted or you will lose points off your next spiral check. The list posted below is up-to-date.

Fun in the Lab

Progress Reports

Progress report are being sent out today and tomorrow. Please get them signed for bonus points.

AP Chemistry

Be sure that is you are going to take the make-up thermochemistry quiz, that you come by tomorrow (Tuesday). See your friend Monica working on the quiz.

Also, please wear lab-safe shoes tomorrow.

Over the break, write up your lab and work on your e-homework.

AP Chemistry

Remember if you are going to take a make-up thermo quiz, to add 10 bonus points to your test, it has to be done by Tuesday after school.

Regular Chemistry

Next time in class you have a polyatomic ion quiz over the second column formulas only. Please study.

Also remember you may take a make-up quiz over naming and writing formulas of ionic compounds on your own time before Thanksgiving, if you want. If you want more practice you can down load this practice worksheet that has an included answer key.

Lots of folks STILL have a research plan due

The old post of the people who owe me research plans is being constantly updated. So if your name is still on the list, then you still owe me a research plan. Look to see if your name is here. You only have 25 days left until your spiral is due.

AP Chemistry

We are starting on Chapter 12 over Kinetics. It wouldn't hurt to read the chapter and get a head start on your e-homework.

And, I concede to letting you bring 20 cans for the food drive. Your thermo tests were abysmal.

Regular Chemistry

Finish your chapter 6 worksheet for homework. Study your polyatomic ions (1st column formulas: fun matching game here). Fix your research plan and resubmit it.

We have our next test tomorrow over Chapter 14, the periodic table. The next chapter we will be going into is chapter 6, chemical nomenclature. If you want to get a head start on this you can play the games at quia .
